Mac Lab iBook

For the Semester 2 Final Exam, the Mac Lab students are each going to contribute a chapter towards a massive Mac Lab iBook, which will be loaded on the iPad and presented to the class. This is a massive effort that will be groundbreaking if it succeeds. Every student will write their own chapter and the final iBook will be assembled in Adobe InDesign by Christopher Canel and Kyle Wheaton.

So far, there have been two test book made, the first by me and the second by Mr. Skocko. I have no doubt that there will be many more coming. Each new test builds upon and last as we learn new skills and try new things. There is going to be a lot of trial and error as to how to format the iBook so that it looks good on the iPad, but I can guarantee that the finished product will be very cool. Both tests are on the Mac Lab iPad for public viewing.

One major problem Kyle and I have been trying to overcome is how to embed video in and iBook. Mac Lab Media plans to film interviews as their unique addition, and so we would like to find a way to actually put those videos in the iBook.

The launch of Adobe Creative Suite 5 means that there are new features in InDesign which will hopefully streamline the production process.

This page will be updated as we continue with the iBook development process.
